If your child has been diagnosed with any communicable infection, please notify the school nurse before returning to school.
A child with a fever of 100 degrees or above must stay home. Students who develop a fever of 100 degrees or above during school will be sent home.
A child who has vomited within the last 24 hours must stay home. Students who vomit at school will be sent home.
A child with uncontrollable diarrhea (3-4 Stools per hour) must stay home. Students experiencing diarrhea at school will be sent home.
A child may return to school after being fever-free, vomit-free, and diarrhea-free for 24 hours, without the use of medication.
A child diagnosed with Strep Throat must be treated with antibiotics for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to school.
A child diagnosed with Bacterial Conjunctivitis (pink eye) must be treated for 24 hours before returning to school. Viral Conjunctivitis must have a doctor’s release before returning to school.
For a child to return to school after Chickenpox, the lesions must be crusted over, fading, and/or disappearing for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
A child having ringworm must have it treated before returning to school. If the area is open or weeping, the area must be covered while at school.
A child with impetigo must not have any uncovered weeping lesions. Any lesion must be covered and treated before returning to school.
A child’s hair with head lice must be treated, nit-free, and seen by a School Nurse before returning to school.
When a student has a medical condition that may be considered contagious or easily transmitted, they will remain in the Nurse’s office until they are picked up. The decision is left up to the discretion of the School Nurse and Administrator.
